Ingredients
  

  • 15.25 ounce box vanilla cake mix or yellow, white, French vanilla, or lemon cake mix
  • ½ cup melted butter for the topping
  • 1 ¾ cups packed brown sugar light or dark
  • 1 ½ pints blueberries fresh or frozen, about 3 cups

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Place a 13×9-inch baking dish onto a baking sheet to catch any spills.
  2. Prepare the cake mix according to the instructions on the box. Set aside.
  3. Cut the butter into pieces and place it into the prepared baking dish. Place the dish in the preheated oven for 3-4 minutes or until the butter has completely melted. Remove the dish from the oven.
  4. Evenly sprinkle the melted butter with brown sugar. Use a fork to distribute the sugar evenly across the bottom of the dish.
  5. Add the blueberries on top of the brown sugar, spreading them out evenly.
  6. Carefully pour the prepared cake batter over the blueberries, making sure to cover them completely.
  7. Bake the cake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before turning it out onto a large flat plate or cutting board.
